WATCHUNG, N.J. – Two weeks removed from taking the individual title at his home tournament,
Dugan McCabe returned to the podium Monday as the individual champion of the Cornell Fall Invitational behind his 136 (-6) two-round score.
McCabe charged to the front by firing a 4-under-par 67 on Monday, the lowest score on the course. Colgate's sophomore striker carded a 69-67-136 for the tournament, claiming medalist honors by three strokes over Sunday's leader Mark Haghani and Conor McGrath.
McCabe entered Round 2 in a tie for fourth after finishing Sunday's opening round 2-under 69. He made his climb to the front with three birdies on the back nine, one of which came on the 18th hole to get to 4-under-par. He had five birdies in total to just one bogey.
The 2021 Patriot League Rookie of the Year is off to quite the start this fall. He won Colgate's home Alex Lagowitz Memorial Sept. 5 and adds another top finish here Monday.
Colgate finished second out of 12 teams at +6, besting Columbia (+11) by five strokes and only trailing Temple, which finished 2-under-par to take the title. The Raiders' second-place finish matches their best result (2016-17) at the Cornell Invitational.
Robbie Herzig carded a steady 71-71-142 to claim seventh place.
Michael Hanratty joined McCabe and Herzig in the top 20 with a 4-over-par (71-75-146), good for 17th overall.
Justin Fedele enjoyed a nice showing on Monday, carding an even-par 71 to jump 23 spots and finish 30th overall with his 78-71-149 score.

Head Coach Keith Tyburski
"I am really proud of our group this weekend, and obviously thrilled for
Dugan McCabe. Winning at any level isn't easy, and for Dugan to win two of the first three to start the year shows how talented he is. He practices hard and is always looking for ways to improve, which all great players must have. While winning each event is our ultimate goal, coming in second in this event with a deep field is an accomplishment we are proud of."
