Hockey's Wagner Honored by Boston Bruins

Wagner Recognized with Bruins' 7th Player Award

BOSTON – Former Colgate men's hockey player Chris Wagner has been recognized with the 7th Player Award by the Boston Bruins, as announced by the NHL program on Saturday afternoon.

The award is given annually to a Bruins player "who exceeds expectations and goes above and beyond the call of duty," while Wagner's recognition marks the 50th anniversary of the honor dating back to the 1968-69 season.

Wagner is in his first year with the Bruins after spending time with the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Islanders through his first five years of professional hockey. The winger has set career-high marks in goals (12) and points (18) through 74 games played this year.

A forward for the Colgate hockey program from 2010-12, Wagner totaled 70 points through 79 games played by 26 goals and 44 assists. In his sophomore season, Wagner posted a plus-21 rating on the ice and a career-high of three game-winning goals.

By an overall record of 47-23, Wagner and the Boston Bruins have clinched a spot in the 2019 NHL Playoffs and sit second in the Atlantic Division standings.
