Raiders Roll Past Bobcats

Colgate Shuts Out St. Thomas on Second Day of Spring Break Trip

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—The Colgate Women's Tennis team bounced back in a big way Tuesday morning with a 7-0 victory over St. Thomas at Butch Buchholz Court.

The Raiders got off to a hot start in the Miami heat when MacKenzie Deeter teamed with Jordan Williams and Lauren O'Brien combined with Madi Kiani to claim all 12 games in a pair of doubles victories to get the team point. Callie Bartimer and Elizabeth Laub were ready to go as well, but the Bobcats could not field a third doubles tandem.

In singles, the success continued and it started with Deeter. The number one player cruised to victory by way of a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Williams kept rolling as well. At number two, she lost just a single game before she went on to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

O'Brien also lost just one game in her straight sets win at number three. She shut out her opponent in the first set, before she completed a 6-0, 6-1 win in the second.

Kiani kept with the trend, as she finished her perfect day of tennis with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number four.

Bartimer and Elinor Simek were set to go in the final two singles spots for the Raiders, but the Bobcats were unable to field those slots.

FROM THE SOURCE
Assistant Coach Jordan Rucks

"Great win for the ladies. Our top-four played solid tennis in the heat and got the job done going 60-5 for total games won on the day."

"With a short lineup for St. Thomas, Bartimer and Simek could not get in a singles match and Bartimer/Laub could not get in a doubles match, however I have full confidence they would have performed just as well and gotten the win on their respective courts."
