NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Sacred Heart narrowly escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Colgate Women's Tennis team Saturday evening at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center at Yale University.
The Raiders came roaring out of the gates in doubles and took an early lead over the Pioneers.
MacKenzie Deeter and
Jordan Williams combined to win their match 6-4, while
Lauren O'Brien and
Madi Kiani claimed a 6-3 triumph to secure the doubles point.
In singles, Deeter completed her perfect evening when she won via straight sets with a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Williams also finished her 2-0 day when she battled back in the third and final set to earn a tough 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Kiani was just a few moments away from giving Colgate the team victory, as she battled back in her singles match to win the second set, then narrowly fell 7-5 in the final set.
