HAMILTON – This year's Crown Family Challenge set a new bar for excellence, much to the delight and appreciation of the Colgate Men's Lacrosse community.
The annual challenge set forth by the Crown Family was held this year in conjunction with March Mania. Supporters of the Colgate Lacrosse program came through with 192 gifts totaling $63,524, far exceeding both the original goal of $25,000 and last year's challenge total of $34,000.
With the Crown Family match of $25,000, the Colgate Crease Club, supporting men's lacrosse, receives $88,524.
For its efforts helping acquire the gifts, Men's Lacrosse earned one of three team awards presented by the athletics department as part of the March Mania Challenge.
Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics
Victoria M. Chun '91, MA'94 gratefully acknowledged the Crowns and the Crease Club members for their support.
"We would like to thank the Crown family once again for its continued friendship, generosity and loyalty to Colgate Athletics and our men's lacrosse program," Chun said. "We also would like to thank our loyal Crease Club supporters who stepped up to support this challenge for the fourth year by nearly doubling last year's total and having record participation."
Head Coach
Mike Murphy echoed his appreciation.
"On behalf of the men of Colgate Lacrosse, I would like to thank Michael, Nancy, Steve and the entire Crown Family for once again leading the Crown Family Challenge. The program is very fortunate to have such a generous following of alumni, parents and friends.
"For the Crease Club to generate the number of gifts and dollar amount is truly humbling."
