SPARKS, Md. – For the first time in his career, senior Sam Erickson caps off his collegiate career with an Honorable Mention All-American selection by USA Lacrosse.

For the third time in program history and for the second consecutive year, Colgate men's lacrosse has had a USA Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American.

The Darien, Conn., native was the only Raider selected to the Patriot League First Team as a long-stick midfielder for his defensive prowess and offensive contributions this season.

Erickson appeared in all 15 games, making four starts. The senior earned his first collegiate start against Penn State (2/1), where he was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week (2/2) after recording three caused turnovers, six ground balls, and one goal.

On defense, Erickson ranked second on the team in both ground balls (48) and caused turnovers (15). He collected three or more ground balls in nine games and posted six ground balls in two contests. He also forced three caused turnovers in four different games.

Erickson contributed offensively as well, scoring five goals and adding one assist. Notably, he scored a pair of goals in the team's win over No. 15 Boston U. to help the Raiders begin a four-game winning streak.

The senior caps off his collegiate career with one of the sport's most prestigious honors: All-American recognition.
