MANHATTAN, N.Y. – The New York Atlas signed undrafted rookie Hunter Drouin early in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League season. A recent member and captain of Colgate's Class of 2026, Drouin is slated to join the Atlas, who are 1-2 this season.
"Getting picked up by the Atlas was a dream come true," said Drouin. "Putting on all the gear for the first time didn't feel real. There are guys on this team who I idolized growing up, and now I get to call them teammates."
Hunter is one of six rookies on the 27-man roster. He is the only rookie attackman on the team.
Drouin's success on the field at Colgate earned him numerous accolades and established him as one of the most decorated players in program history. At the conference level, he was a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection (2024, 2025), a Second Team All-Patriot League honoree in 2026, a member of the 2026 Preseason All-Patriot League Team, a 2026 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week selection and a 2026 Academic All-League selection.
Nationally, Drouin earned All-America honorable mention recognition from Inside Lacrosse, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and USA Lacrosse in both 2024 and 2025, while also receiving honorable mention honors from Nike Lacrosse Media in 2025 and 2026. Prior to his senior season, he was named a USILA Preseason Third Team All-American, earned preseason All-America honorable mention recognition from USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse, and was selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. He also earned a spot on the USILA Division I National Team of the Week during the 2026 season.
"Every day at Colgate I was able to play against some of the most talented and competitive players in the country," said Drouin. "All those days have prepared me for my pro career, and I am forever thankful for Colgate."
During his time at Colgate, Drouin faced fierce competition and developed into one of the program's top offensive players. He finished his collegiate career having appeared in 58 games with 53 starts, totaling 105 goals, 53 assists and 158 points while adding 17 man-up goals, two game-winning goals, 89 ground balls, 208 shots on goal and 12 caused turnovers.
"Looking back at Colgate, the biggest lesson I am taking away is that it takes an entire team to win games," Drouin said. "Chemistry and cohesiveness beat talent, so I need to rely on my teammates to be successful."
The Atlas are 1-2 this season after defeating the Chaos in their opener before falling to the Whipsnakes and Outlaws in their last two matchups. New York is set to face the California Redwoods tonight at 8:30 p.m. in North Carolina, streaming on ESPN+, where Drouin could make his professional debut.
