Colgate Men’s Golf Program Making Strides Under Hamilton Native

Keith Tyburski coached the Raiders in 2015 to their best Patriot League Men's Golf Championship finish since 2001.
HAMILTON – Keith Tyburski's impact on the Colgate men's golf program continues to grow.

The Raiders are coming off a season that saw them tie for third at the Patriot League Championship for their best finish at that event since 2001. Sophomore Chris Wilson was an All-Patriot League First Team selection and Ryan Allison twice broke Colgate's 54-hole scoring total.

Allison broke Jesse Smith's 54-hole program record of 1 over par, set at the 2002 Patriot League Championship.

Colgate for the season posted a record team average score of 302.48, breaking the previous low of 303.44 set in 2000-01. In the 2014-15 campaign, Colgate as a team posted the top-three tournament scores for a 54-hole event in program history at +19, +21 and +32 -- the latter in the Patriot League Championship held at Seven Oaks.

Tyburski was named interim head coach in the fall of 2009 and then was named head coach to begin the 2010-11 season.

During his collegiate playing career, Tyburski was a member of the Western Carolina golf team. He was named to the All-Southern Conference academic team four times and was the 2005-06 student-athlete athletic council representative. Upon graduation from Western Carolina in 2006, Tyburski played professionally on various mini circuits across the country.

Tyburski is a Hamilton, native. His parents, Bob '74 and Marcelle, have worked several years for Colgate University. Marcelle is the director of financial aid, and Bob is vice president and senior advisor.

"Our men's golf program continues to shine," Colgate Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun '91, MA'94 said. "The strides our golfers have made under Keith's leadership are a testament to his hard work and ability as a head coach."
