– Colgate Men's Hockey recently gathered to reflect on another great season and hand out its team awards during its annual banquet April 4 in Colgate's Hall of Presidents.

Head Coach Don Vaughan and his staff announced the team captains for the 2015-16 season. Rising senior Mike Borkowski will serve as captain while fellow Class of '16 members Kevin Lough and Darcy Murphy were tabbed as alternate captains.

Borkowski and Lough also received awards during the banquet. Borkowski was honored with the Steve Riggs Memorial Award for the second consecutive season, given to the player who is most known for gentlemanly play and possesses a high standard of ability. A native of Kanata, Ont., Borkowski finished with six goals and 14 assists for 20 points in 21 games despite missing 17 games with what was originally through to be a season-ending injury. He was whistled for just two minor penalties during the season and ranked second on the team with a 15 rating.

Lough, meanwhile, as named a co-honoree of the Dan Coley "Barrel" Award along with sophomore Jake Kulevich. Awarded to the team's best defensemen, Lough took part in 37 games in 2014-15, finishing with nine points on two goals and seven assists. The Kanata, Ont., native was a 10 and blocked 45 shots to rank fourth on the team in that category.

Kulevich turned in breakout sophomore campaign, compiling career highs of five goals, 10 assist and 15 points as he dressed for all 38 games this season. A native of Marblehead, Mass., Kulevich was a 12 despite being paired up against the opposing team's best players on most occasions. He blocked a team-high 69 shots during the season.

Senior alternate captain Joe Wilson once again took home the Rob Ries Award for his inspiration and leadership on the team. Wilson made the most of his final season in a Raider uniform, ranking fourth on the team in scoring with 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists. Wilson was one of just seven players to dress in all 38 games for Colgate this season as he became just the 12th player in school history to dress in 150 games during his collegiate career.

Senior captain Spiro Goulakos was recognized as the recipient of the prestigious Terry Slater Trophy. The trophy is awarded by the Silver Puck Club and goes to the senior whose performance, leadership, and dedication on and off the ice during his career had the greatest impact on Colgate hockey.

Goulakos took part in 26 games this season, tallying three goals and 11 assists for 14 points. The Montreal, Que., product was named to the All-Tournament Team at the ECAC Hockey Championship for his efforts.

Two Raiders, seniors Brendan Corcoran and John Lidgett ,split the Whit Williams Award. The award, which was handed out by Whit's widow Linda, is given to the most improved player throughout the season.

Corcoran took part in 33 games as a member of the Raiders defense this season and finished with two assists. The Milton, Mass., native took just one minor penalty during the 2014-15 season and blocked 16 shots. Corcoran played in 68 of 77 games played during his final two seasons as he developed into steady, smooth-passing defenseman and a consistent every day player.

A native of Calgary, Alta., Lidgett was looked to as an on-ice leader for Colgate in 2014-15, seeing time both on the power play and penalty kill. Lidgett also served as one of the top faceoff men for the Raiders, winning 362 draws during the season.

The Best Offensive Player honors went to junior Tyson Spink as the top point-getter for the Raiders. Spink earned the award for the second straight season with 31 points after pacing Colgate in both goals (14) and assist (17) in 2014-15. The Williamstown, Ont., native was an ECAC Third-Team All-League selection and enjoyed a trio of lengthy point-scoring streaks during the 2014-15 campaign, stringing together three consecutive point-scoring stretches of six games or longer.

Sophomore goaltender Charlie Finn was voted by his teammates as the Best Defensive Player for the second straight season. A four-time ECAC Goaltender-of-the-Week selection, Finn posted a 21-10-4 overall record in 2014-15. The North Vancouver, B.C., native posted a 2.03 goals against average and a .924 save percentage as he matched the program mark for shutouts in a season with six.

The Bow, N.H., native split time between forward and defense in 2014-15, all the while leaving a positive impression on his teammates with his upbeat attitude and consistent work ethic.
