Biography

Senior Year (2014-15): Recipient of 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award for Men’s Ice Hockey … Recognized as team’s Terry Slater Award winner, given annually to a member of the senior class whose performance, leadership, and dedication on and off the ice during his career had the greatest impact on Colgate Hockey … Appeared in 26 games … Finished with 14 points on three goals and 11 assists … Missed final 12 games of regular season due to injury, but returned in playoffs to help lead Raiders to second straight ECAC Hockey Championship game appearance … Named to All-Tournament Team at ECAC Hockey Championship … Member of Raider blueline that finished season sixth nationally in scoring defense (2.13) … Fifth on team in blocked shots (39) … Dished out career-high three assists in 5-2 victory at Sacred Heart (Oct. 24) … Finished with two assists in 5-2 win against St. Lawrence (Nov. 14) … Recorded power play goals against Princeton (Nov. 8) and Dartmouth (March 14) … Named to Raider Academic Honor Roll for fall semester.

Junior Year (2013-14): Saw action in all 39 games as team captain ... named third team All-ECAC Hockey ... recorded a career high 20 points on nine goals and 11 helpers ... was third on the team with five power play goals ... scored two gamewinners ... had 17 points in league play with seven goals and 10 assists ... posted three multi-point games, including four points against Cornell on Feb. 8 in a 6-1 win ... netted a hat trick and an assist in the game and was the seventh player all time to score three goals in one period at Starr Rink ... named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week after tallying the hat trick ... scored a goal in the ECAC Hockey Championship against Union at Lake Placid ... had a season-long four-game point streak with eight points in the four games ... after the season, invited to and participated in NHL Developmental Camp conducted by the New York Rangers. 

Sophomore Year (2012-13): Appeard in 26 games on the blueline ... was the point man on the power play and tallied four goals with the extra man ... had 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists ... set a new career-high with seven goals and was one behind his point total from 2011-12 ... recorded seven multi-point games with a season-high three points coming against Clarkson on Dec. 1 with two goals and an assist ... started the year with two helpers against Niagara in the opener ... had back-to-back two-point outings against RIT (Oct. 26) and Quinnipiac (Oct. 27) with a goal and an assist in each ... did the same against Cornell on Nov. 3 on the road ... registered two helpers against Yale (Jan. 26) and St. Lawrence (Mar. 8) in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament ... scored the gamewinner against  nationally-ranked Union in a 4-1 win after missing two weeks due to injury ... had two gamewinners on the year and blocked 39 shots. 

Freshman Year (2011-12): Played in 39 games for the Raiders in his first season ... recorded three goals and 16 assists for 19 points, which was second among defensemen and rookies ... posted multi-point games on five different ocassions ... had two assists versus Brown (11/4), Clarkson (12/2) and St. Lawerence (2/17) ... tallied a goal and an assist against Brown (1/11) ... scored his first collegiate goal on Jan. 6 against the eventual national runner-up in Ferris State ... posted at least one point in four of five games between Dec. 2 and Jan. 6 and also between Feb. 11 and Feb. 25 ... tallied his second goal of the season against Brown on Feb. 11 as part of a two-point night ...  scored a power play goal against Rensselaer on Feb. 25 ... had 43 shot blocks and a minus-5 rating. 

Before Colgate: Played junior hockey since the 2007-08 season and has skated for two different teams in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League … appeared for the Vaudreuil-Dorion Mustangs in 2007-08 … tallied 18 points on four goals and 14 assists on the blueline … accumulated 125 penalty minutes … had 44 points on 16 goals and 28 helpers in 48 games in his second year with the Mustangs … moved on to the St-Jerome Panthers in 2009-10 and had 41 points on eight goals and 33 assists … had 13 goals and 43 helpers for 56 points in 45 games in 2010-11 … first team all-star and selected as the best defenseman in the QJAAAHL … also played football and rugby.

Personal: Spiro Goulakos...is the son of Socrates and Julie Goulakos … born in Montreal, Que. … Uncle, George Goulakos, played hockey at St. Lawrence and was a draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1978 NHL Draft.
