Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Megan Ark scored at least three goals for the ninth time this season, but it wasn't enough in a 10-9 loss to American.

Colgate (7-8, 4-4 PL) is the fifth seed going into the Patriot League Tournament and is headed to Holy Cross for a Tuesday matchup. Loyola defeated Navy this afternoon and will host the semifinals and championship next weekend.

In addition to Ark's four goals, Alison Flood had three points on two goals and an assist. Kallan Murray recorded two points on a goal and an assist. Jennie Berglin made four saves in the loss for Colgate.

American (5-12, 1-7 PL) saw Olivia Mangan tally a hat trick, while Jessica Wojciechowski and Alex Lugovina chipped in with a pair of goals apiece. Ashley Dalisera made nine saves to earn her fifth win.

The first half was up-and-down for both teams. There were three lead changes and three ties in the first 12 minutes of the game. Colgate broke it open with four-straight goals to push the lead up to 6-3, but the Eagles fired back with two late in the opening half. The Raiders took a 6-5 lead at the break.

Ark led the way in the first 30 minutes with her ninth hat trick of the season. She gave the Raiders the early 1-0 lead and scored the only free-position goal in the first for Colgate. Flood, Murray and Taylor Fischer also scored, while Murray and Flood added assists to two points in the first half.

American hung around late in the half when Colgate was up 6-3 and managed to score two goals in a two-minute span to cut the lead to one. Jordan Harrington stopped the run for the Raiders and Lugovina tallied the second her two in the first half with 4:16 left. The Eagles caused a turnover with under a minute remaining and earned a free-position shot with six seconds left, but Madison Hoon was stymied by Berglin as time expired.

The two teams had a combined 10 free-position shots in the half and Colgate scored only once and the Eagles had two goals in that situation. Shots were tied at 12-12 and all 12 targets by the Raiders were on goal.

The Coglate scoring drought continued into the second half as American built up its largest lead at 9-6 with six-straight scores. Wojciechowski had two of the four goals in the first 16 minutes of the half for the Eagles. Colgate got on the board in the second with 10:43 left as Flood scored her second of the game to cut the lead to 9-7.

Mangan and Eagles responded just over two minutes later to score the eventually gamewinner to make it 10-7.

Colgate got the advantage down to one with two minutes left with back-to-back goals from Tyler Sherper and Ark. Both goals came as free-position goals.

The final two minutes were very interesting as Colgate won the draw and then American went down a player with Nicole Lombardo getting a yellow card with a minute left. Each team turned the ball over, but the Raiders couldn't get a shot off and American got the 10-9 win on Senior Day.

Colgate had a 21-19 shot advantage and 18 of the 21 shots were on goal.

The Raiders are back in action on Tuesday at Holy Cross with a chance to move on to the Patriot League Semifinals. A time will be announced early this week.
