Raiders Support Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

The men's soccer team will be taking donations during their home game for the Hope for Heather foundation.
HAMILTON – The Colgate men's soccer team has joined forces with the Hope for Heather foundation to help spread the word about Ovarian Cancer.

Hope for Heather is a not-for-profit organization launched in 2009 in memory of Heather Weeks, who lost her life to cancer at age 24. The foundation's mission is to raise funds to support Ovarian Cancer research, promote education and awareness, and help promote comfort to women and their families devastated by cancer.

The Colgate team has decided to collect donations all week at the student union “Coop,” and during Saturday's game.  A representative from the foundation will be in attendance to take donations in person. Any amount of donations are accepted, as well as student 'Gate cards.

A teal colored Ovarian Cancer Awareness bracelet will be given to anyone who donates at least $5. The bracelets will be donated directly from the Hope for Heather organization. They are also supporting the team by contributing teal laces to put in their cleats for the game.

During Saturday's game against Lafayette, the team will be wearing teal jerseys to showcase their support. The game begins at 4 p.m. at Van Doren Field and will acknowledge the seniors on the team as well as Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

Heather Weeks was an advocate for women's cancer and committed to raising funds to find a cure. With help from the team and fans, Hope for Heather will continue Heather's dream of educating all women on the major symptoms of Ovarian Cancer.

The team is asking for your help as it tries to support the fight against this deadly disease. For more information about the Hope for Heather foundation, log onto: www.HopeforHeather.org.
