COACH RONNING'S COMMENTS
"We are definitely disappointed with the draw. As the game unfolded, we really played on the front foot and generated a few great chances.Â
Goals will come."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eric Widrick was first called into action on a free kick in the 20th minute that he parried over the crossbar.
- With 15 to go in the first half, Ryan Schachter put in a searching cross but nobody was on the end of it.
- Alex St. John tried an ambitious bicycle kick just before the end of the half but the Lafayette keeper made a comfortable save and the match remained scoreless after 45 minutes.
- In the 52nd minute, Widrick made a full stretch stop to his right to keep the match scoreless.
- Otto Bourne blocked a clearance and went face-to-face with the Leopards keeper but pushed his chip wide right.
- With 20 minutes left in the game, Cason Stafford found a bit of space to fire on target but it was right at the Lafayette goalkeeper.
- Moments later, Ethan Harris skipped past his defender and the Lafayette defender stuck a wayward leg out that tripped up Harris in the Leopards 18-yard box. After review, the referee decided not to give a penalty kick.
- Stafford had another look with just over 10 minutes left, the strike ricocheted off the goalkeeper and a defender and barely stayed out of the back of the net.
- Lafayette nearly snatched the winner late but after the striker rounded Widrick, Julian Di Lucia was there to sweep up the crumbs and prevent any danger.
- Colgate won a free kick late but was unable to convert and the match ended 0-0.
