FIELD HOCKEY GAME CENTRAL
HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/21/11) - The Colgate field hockey team will be on the road this weekend as the travel to Rhode Island to compete against Bryant and Brown.  
The team is 3-5 on the year and wins against both teams could give the Raiders a .500 winning percentage as they head into league play. 
OVERTIME EXCITEMENT
The Raiders are 2-1 in their last three games, with their most recent win coming in an exciting 3-2 overtime victory against St. Francis. This was the first overtime game that the Raiders have won this season after three tries, and sophomore 
Halle Biggar was credited her third goal of the year for the gamewinner against the Red Flash. 
SCORING MACHINE
Senior defender 
Peyton Hawkins has scored twice in the last three games, scoring the only goal of the game to beat Siena 1-0, and also scored against to tie St. Francis to tie the game at 2-2 and send the Raiders into overtime. She earned Patriot League Honorable Mention for the effort and has now reach two goals for the first time in her career. The gamewinner was also special because she was injured during the Siena game last season. 
AWARD WINNERS
The Raiders saw three players garners Patriot League Awards this week. 
Lauren Dittman, who leads the team in scoring with four goals, was honored with Patriot League Player of the Week, and goalie 
Amanda DiDomizio was named Patriot League Goalie of the Week. DiDomizio earned her second shutout of the season against Siena and has lowered her GAA to 3.12 and has 68 saves this year.
SCOUTING BRYANT
The Bulldogs are 3-4 so far this season, coming off a huge overtime win against instate rival Brown. The Bulldogs have won three of the their last four contests after starting the year 0-3. They beat Georgetown and Pacific during the stretch that also featured a loss to Dartmouth.
Freshman Rosie Bird, who has 16 points from seven goals and two assists, leads the Bulldogs. Bird has tallied at least one point in every game this season. Sophomore Kayleigh Ballantyne, who is second on the team in goals with six, including the game winner against Brown last weekend, is also an impact player for Bryant. The Bulldogs have six players with four or more points this season. 
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams are playing for the fourth time in the series with Bryant leading 2-1. The schools last met in 2010, with Bryant winning 2-1. Game time is set for 11 a.m. Saturday.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears are 1-5 on the season, and were recently beaten by Bryant in an overtime loss.  They are on a four-game losing streak , which includes two, one-goal losses. 
Senior Leslie Springmeyer, who has five points on two goals and an assist, leads the Bears. The Bears are anchored by freshman goalie Shannon McSweeney, who has played all 420 minutes for the Bears, and boasts an impressive .714 save percentage.  The Bears lone win came against UC Davis, and they are 0-4 in their last four games. Four of their six matches have been decided by one goal. 
SERIES HISTORY
Colgate and Brown will be playing for the sixth time in the series with Colgate holding a 4-1 advantage since the schools first met back in 1976. The two teams last met in 2005, with Brown winning 4-0, but the Raiders lead the series 4-1. Game time is set for noon Sunday.
