DAY TWO RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. (2/18/11) – Kim Pilka shattered the old 1-meter dive record and the 800-yard freestyle relay team set a new league mark as the Colgate women's swimming and diving team remained in the lead after day two of the Patriot League Championships.
The Raiders have compiled 556 points in the two days so far, while Navy sits in second with 476 points.
Pilka finished the day with an amazing 1-meter dive score of 303.40. It destroyed the previous mark of 291.85, which was set by Army's Chelsea Haviland in 2006. The mark also sets a new Colgate record that was set by Emily McAuliff in 2005 at 282.00.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of
Erin McGraw,
Claire Hunter,
Emma Santoro and
Caren Guyett, beat the old record set by Colgate in 2009 by 1.5 seconds. The Raiders posted a time of 7:20.09, which became a new Patriot League, championship meet and Kinney Natatorium record. The previous record was 7:21.69.
Guyett did some record-breaking of her own with a new Colgate record in the 200-yard freestyle. She finished with a time of 1:47.94, which shaved more than a second off of her prelim time. The previous record was held by Lisa Marchi and was set in 2009 at 1:48.93. Hunter took second at 1:50.07, while
Emma Santoro ended up fourth with a time of 1:50.68. Colgate had five finishers in the top-8 and earned 75 points in the event.
Erica Derlath earned 20 points for winning the 400-yard individual medley for her second title of the weekend. She finished with a time of 4:17.61. She beat her second-place opponent by 10 seconds.
Melanie Lockard took third at 4:27.30 to add 16 more points to the scoreboard.
McGraw rose to the occasion in the 100-yard butterfly as the Raiders had three women place in the top five to earn 50 points towards the team score. McGraw won her first individual title with a time of 54.36 seconds, just missing her record time of 54.02 seconds.
Lia Kunnapas finished third at 55.15 seconds, improving her prelim time of 55.29 seconds.
Jenna Jacoby ended up fifth with a time of 56.31 seconds.
Rebecca Murray and
Maggie White contributed in the 100-yard breaststroke with Murray placing third at 1:03.66, while White positioned herself seventh with a time of 1:05.74.
Kunnapas took home her first individual crown in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.63 seconds. Jacoby and
Sarah Button placed fifth and sixth, respectively, and
Megan Jex took eighth. With four in the finals, Colgate earned 58 points in the event.
The final day of competition is set for tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by the finals at 6 p.m. Fans can follow all the action on
