BOX SCORE

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/11/10) –
The Colgate field hockey team dropped its third straight away from home with a 6-0 loss at Yale on Saturday afternoon.

Colgate's (1-4) highlighted player was senior captain and goalkeeper Kirsten Lalli (Pound Ridge, N.Y.), who pushed aside 18 shots, including 11 in the second half.

Yale (3-0) remained undefeated with Georgia Holland and Taylor Sankovich netting a game-high two goals apiece, while Dinah Lundshut posted three assists and Erica Borgo had two of her own helpers. Erin Carter and Mia Rosati also added scores in the win.

The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead eight minutes into the contest on Holland's first of the season. Carter and Sankovich pushed the lead to three at 3-0 with back-to-back goals coming four minutes apart. Carter's was her first of the year, while Sankovich netted her third of the year. Landshut assisted on both scores and Sankovich's tally came on a penalty corner, so Borgo was given a second assist on the play.

Yale had a 17-4 advantage in shots at the half and the Bulldogs finished the opening frame with five penalty corners to only two from the Raiders. Lalli kept Colgate in the game with seven stops in the first 35 minutes.

Yale continued to pressure in the beginning of the second half and capitalized on another opportunity with a score from Sankovich for her second of the day on a penalty corner to make it 4-0. Lanshut and Borgo assisted on their second straight score. Mia Rosati added to the scoring with the first unassisted goal by the Bulldogs coming with 26:27 left in the game to increase the margin to 5-0. Lalli was able to make the first save on Holland, but Rosati was there for the cleanup and got her first of the year.

Lalli couldn't stop Holland later on with 11:21 remaining as she pushed the lead up to 6-0 on her second of the day. The Raiders held Yale off the scoreboard for the rest of the contest as the Bulldogs defeated Colgate by a 6-0 score.

Yale dominated the shot count with a 36-5 advantage and had eight corners to only three for the Raiders.

Colgate will try and stop this road slide tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. as the Raiders travel down the road to Quinnipiac for the final game of their four-game trip.
