Box Score

HAMILTON, NY (8/30/10) –
In her second career start, senior goalkeeper Kirsten Lalli (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) made 20 stops, but Northwestern came out on top with a 4-1 win over Colgate on Monday night.

Colgate (1-1) got a goal from rookie Olivia Nabhan (Rye, N.Y.), which was her first collegiate score with sophomore Anna Reddicliffe (Larchmont, N.Y.) handing out the assist.

Northwestern (2-1) finished its upstate New York tour with a 2-1 record. Chelsea Armstrong led the way with a pair of goals on eight shots on net. She scored both in the first half. Regan Mooney and Sherilyn DeStefano tallied the other two goals for the Wildcats. Goalkeeper Amanda Wirth got her first win of the year with two saves on the night.

Northwestern came out on the attack and went up 1-0 on a goal by Armstrong 10 minutes into the contest. She added her second of the night three minutes later on a penalty corner with the assists going to Stacy Uchida and Sarah Marcincin. Armstrong got the stick-stop from Uchida and powered a low shot to the left of Lalli to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

The third Northwestern score came with 12:48 left in the opening half as DeStefano fired a shot from just inside the circle, which beat Lalli to the right side.

The Wildcats got their fourth goal with 22:05 remaining in the game as Regan Mooney scored her first goal of the season and her fifth career tally.

Colgate got on the board with 8:46 left in the game on a nice crossing play from the Raiders. Reddicliffe gathered the ball down the left side of the circle, fired a crossing pass to Nabhan who cradled the ball and snuck it past Wirth on the right side for her first collegiate goal.

Northwestern dominated in shots with a 38-4 advantage and a 20-2 margin in shots on goal. The Wildcats also had a 12-0 advantage on penalty corners.

The Raiders will be back in action this coming Saturday as they hit the road for the first time this season. Colgate plays Rider at noon on Saturday, followed by a noon matchup with Monmouth on Sunday.
