Men's Lacrosse Release #5: Raiders Play at Harvard, Host Fairfield

The Colgate University men's lacrosse team will play at No. 12 Harvard on Tuesday (March 16), before returning home for a game against Fairfield on Saturday (March 20). The game against the Crimson is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., while Saturdays game will begin at 3 p.m.

HARVARD SERIES NOTES
The Raiders and Crimson are facing-off for the eighth time with Harvard leading the all-time series 6-1. The Raiders won the first-ever meeting 4-0, in 1924. Harvard has won the last six meetings including a 8-2 victory in 2003.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (1-4)
The Raiders fell to 1-4 on the season following a 9-8 loss at Holy Cross on Saturday. The loss was the first ever for Colgate against the Crusaders. Colgate is led up front by Ben McCabe with 10 points off eight goals and two assists, while Peter Baum, Ian Murphy and Chris Zielinski each have eight points. Michael Crown headlines the defense with three points, 16 groundballs and five caused turnovers. Jared Madison and Tim Harrington have split time between the pipes with Madison leading the way with a 8.87 GAA and .532 save percentage, while Harrington has a 9.13 GAA.
  
SCOUTING HARVARD (3-1)
The Crimson improved to 3-1 on the season with a 14-13 win at No. 18 Massachusetts Saturday afternoon. Dean Gibbons leads Harvard with 18 points off 12 goals and six assists, while Jeff Cohen is second on the squad with 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. Harry Krieger and Christian Coates have split time between the pipes with Coates leading the way with a 9.74 GAA and .528 save percentage, while Krieger is 2-0 with a 9.78 GAA.
 
TOP BOSS
Colgate University head coach Jim Nagle is in his ninth season at the helm of the Colgate lacrosse program. He sports a 73-53 record and is 138-91 in his 14 seasons as a head coach. His 73 victories and .584 win percentage are the second most by a Colgate men's lacrosse coach. Harvey Potter has the most wins with 80 victories, while Michael Toop (1988-91) has the best win percentage at .708 (34-14). Nagle has guided Colgate to its first Patriot League Tournament Championship, its highest national ranking, and a 14-4 record in Patriot League play over the past three seasons. The Raiders posted three straight 11-win seasons for the first time in history under Nagle's watch.

MCCLELLAND NAMED TO TEAM CANADA FINAL ROSTER
Colgate men's lacrosse senior Ryan McClelland (Brampton, Ont.) was recently selected as one of the final 24 players to the Team Canada roster.
McClelland is one of two college players named to the final roster that will represent Canada at the World Championships in Manchester, England in July.

RAIDERS RANKED 21ST ON INSIDE LACROSSE FACE-OFF YEARBOOK
The Colgate University men's lacrosse team has been ranked in the top-25 of the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook. The Raiders enter the preseason preview in the 21st spot after closing out the 2009 season 9-6.
Two-time defending national champion Syracuse was dubbed the top team in the nation, according to the poll, while Navy headlined the Patriot League with the 10th spot.

RAIDERS FACE MARYLAND AT LACROSSE DAY OF CHAMPIONS
The Colgate University men's Lacrosse team will join the Indians Rock Community Foundation for its third annual Lacrosse Day of Champions at Manhasset High School. The Day of Champions will feature two events spread out over four separate days.
The Raiders will headline the second event on May 8th as they take on Maryland at Manhasset High School. Defending New York state high-school champion Manhasset versus conference rival Cold Spring Harbor will follow the Colgate-Maryland game.
The Lacrosse Day of Champions events start on Friday, March 5 with youth tournaments for grades 4-9. Some slots are still available, and teams can register at www.irockfundhome.org. Each team will be guaranteed at least three games. Each roster player will receive complimentary tickets to both the March 6 Haverford-St. Lawrence game and the May 8 Maryland-Colgate game. Visit the web site for more details about the tournament and registration.
Tickets for the May 8th Colgate-Maryland game will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for those 18 years and younger. Tickets will go on sale April 1st at the www.irockfundhome.org web site, and the game is expected to be a sell-out.
