Peter Baum (Portland, Ore.) scored his first three collegiate goals and junior
Ben McCabe (Brunswick, Maine) added two in a 7-6 loss at Binghamton in men's lacrosse action, Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
With the Raiders trailing 6-4 in the fourth quarter, Baum recorded back-to-back goals in a three-minute span to tie the game with 9:23 remaining. Binghamton responded with the eventual game winning goal at the 8:08 mark to take a 7-6 the lead.
The Bearcats scored the first goal of the game at the 13:46 mark in the first quarter, but the Colgate was able to answer back with three straight to take a 3-1 lead.
Junior
Andrew Mould (Wyomissing, Pa.) recorded the Raiders first goal of the 2010 campaign at the 9:49 mark of the first quarter, and was followed by Baum's first of the game three minutes later. Both goals were unassisted. McCabe then scored his first of the season off an assist from Mould to give Colgate two goal lead with 5:20 remaining in the opening quarter.
Binghamton answered back with three goals for 4-3 lead midway through the second quarter, before McCabe scored his second of the game to tie the score 4-4 at halftime.
The Bearcats scored a pair of goals in the third quarter to take a 6-4 lead into the closing period.
Sophomore
Jared Madison (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and senior
Tim Harrington (Lutherville, Md.) split time in net and tallied nine stops for the Raiders, Madison recorded seven in the first-half. Dan Solazzo posted 12 saves for the Bearcats.
Colgate will return home next weekend as it hosts Dartmouth, Saturday, February 27. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
