HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/6/10) –
The Colgate women's swimming and diving team set two pool records, but it wasn't enough as the Raiders fell to Boston University, 148-95, on Senior Day at Lineberry Natatorium on Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders ended up splitting the weekend with the two Boston schools after dominating Boston College yesterday. An update from yesterday's meet, the 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Lia Kunnapas (Hasbrouck Heights, N.Y.), sophomore Emma Santoro (Fall River, Mass.), rookie Claire Hunter (Rye, N.Y.) and senior captain Erin McGraw (Penfield, N.Y.) set a pool record with a time of 3:54.30. The team beat out last year's mark of 3:54.46.

Today, Colgate got four individual wins from four different competitors.

Kunnapas continued to swim well with a recording-breaking swim in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:04.19. She broke her own record from last year at 2:04.36. Kunnapas finished a full four seconds ahead of rookie Megan Jex (Carmel, Ind.), who swam to a second-place finish at 2:08.22.

Senior captain Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was another swimmer with a new pool record and she also eclipsed her own best mark from last season in the 500-yard freestyle. Guyett almost shaved a full second off of her previous pool record with a time of 5:00.07. Last year's mark was 5:00.87.

McGraw earned Colgate's first win of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 1:53.05, which was under a second faster than BU's Lauren Drake at 1:53.56. It was McGraw's fourth win of the weekend after earning three in the BC meet on Saturday. She edged Amanda Schmitz of Boston University, who took second at 5:00.23.

In the diving events, sophomore Kim Pilka (Great Falls, Va.) won the 1-meter dive competition by 16 points with a score of 261.89. Boston University's Melinda Matyas was second at 245.09. Pilka got her revenge on Matyas because the BU diver won the 3-meter dive, which kept Pilka from sweeping all diving events at home this season.

The Terriers broke three pool records today. They set the new mark in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:36.34. Meaghan Grimes came through with a time of 10:17.47 in the 1000-free for a new record, while Schmitz erased a record in the 200-yard fly with a time of 12:03.

The Raiders closed the home season with a 1-2 mark with a win yesterday over Boston College and a loss to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago. Colgate will be on the road next Saturday with a trip to Bucknell for its first Patriot League meet of the season.
