Miller and Lawler Lead Colgate to 16-1 Victory Over LaSalle

Courtney Miller netted her first collegiate goals in the victory over LaSalle

PHILADELPHIA, PA  (2/21/09) – Meghan Lawler (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Courtney Miller (Chappaqua, N.Y.) each tallied three goals as Colgate posted a convincing 16-1 victory over LaSalle, Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse action.

The Raiders, now 2-0 on the year, scored twice in the first two minutes of the contest and never looked back.  Nine different players accounted for the 16 goals for Colgate.  Ashley Didio (Syracuse, N.Y.), Brie Moran (Little Silver, N.J.), and Sarah Kellogg (White Plains, N.Y.) each provided two goals in the victory.

Colleen Bubnack (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored 17 seconds into the game, while Lawler posted her first of the afternoon less than a minute later to give Colgate a quick 2-0 lead. The junior netted all three of her goals in the opening half.  Miller collected her first collegiate goal at 25:15 as the Raiders raced into intermission with an 11-0 advantage.

Molly Carroll (Swarthmore, Pa.) netted her first and only score of the afternoon at 15:20 to give the Raiders a 15-0 lead.  The Explorers, who fell to 0-1 on the year, avoided the shutout with 8:49 remaining as Jill Davis found the back of the net.  A pair of freshmen combined for Colgate's final score as Miller found Katie Sullivan (Cockeysville, Md.) at 6:50 for her second goal of the year.  Fellow newcomer, Greer Goebels (Coronado, Calif.) collected her first collegiate point with an assist in the first half.

Colgate outshot LaSalle 31-5 on the afternoon.  Raider goalie Sara Drexler (Pottstown, Pa.) saved two shots in the win.

The Raiders return to action, February 25 as they travel to face Cornell.  The game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
