HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/19/09)—The Colgate University men's lacrosse team heads south this weekend for a pair of games against ACC rivals. Colgate battles No. 5/7 Duke on Friday at 4 p.m., followed with No. 6/4 North Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Colgate and Duke are meeting for the seventh time since the first meeting in 1957. The Blue Devils lead the series with a 5-1 mark, outscoring the Raiders 71-49 in those contests, including a 15-7 win last season in Durham. Colgate's lone win came from a 19-0 victory in 1960. Duke captured its largest margin of victory, 19-5, in 1995 and defeated the Raiders 21-10. All of the previous six games have been played in Durham.
The Raiders are coming off a 15-11 victory over Canisius on Feb. 13. Colgate is 1-0 overall. The Raider offense is led by senior attacker
Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.). Corp has a team high eight points off five goals and three assists. Classmate
Nick Monastero (Bohemia, N.Y.) is right behind him with six goals and one assist for seven points. Senior
Kevin Colleluori (Bethpage, N.Y.) and junior
Ian Murphy (Constantia, N.Y.) both have four points.
Sophomore faceoff specialist Jim
Carroll (Nesconset, N.Y.) is 14-of-29 in restarts for a .483 success rate. He also leads the team with 11 groundballs. Between the pipes junior
Tim Harrington (Lutherville, Md.) is 1-0 on the season and sports a 11.00 goals against average and .450 save percentage. He is averaging 9.00 saves per game.
Duke enters this weekend 1-0 after a 11-7 win over Bucknell. Seniors Ned Crotty and Max Quinzani headline the attack for the Blue Devils. Crotty leads the team with six points off one goal and five assists, while Quinzani has four points from one goal and three assists. Sam Payton leads the team at the faceoff, while senior Rob Schroeder leads the way between the pipes with a .500 save percentage.
The Raiders and Tar Heels are facing off for the fourth time in the two teams' histories with North Carolina owning a 2-1 advantage. Colgate's only victory over the Tar heels came in 1960. Duke won last meeting, 12-6, in Hamilton.
North Carolina enters the weekend 2-0 after a 16-4 win over Robert Morris followed with a 20-7 victory over Denver. Sophomore Billy Bitter and junior Gavin Petracca headline the attack for the Tar Heels with 13 points apiece. Both lead the team with eight goals and five assists. Senior Grant Zimmerman leads the way between the pipes with a .643 save percentage.
