Biography

Junior Year (2014-15): One of seven players to appear in all 38 games for the Raiders …  Tied for team lead in scoring amongst defensemen, notching 15 points on one goal and 14 assists … Ranked among top 10 defensemen in ECAC Hockey in both assists (7th) and points (T-9th) … Fourth on the team in plus/minus rating (+12) … Ranked third on team in blocked shots (39) … Member of Raider blueline that finished season sixth nationally in scoring defense (2.13) … Recorded a goal and an assist to help lead Raiders past St. Lawrence (Nov. 14) … Tallied two assists against eventual national champion Providence (Dec. 9).

Sophomore Year (2013-14): Saw action in 37 games in his second season ... posted 19 points on four goals and 15 assists ... had five multi-point games and four games with at least two helpers ... scored goals against St. Lawrence (Nov. 15), Dartmouth (Jan. 17), Harvard (Jan. 18) and Princeton (Feb. 21) ... second among defensemen in points ... had two assists against the Saints in game two of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals ... highlight of the year was his shootout tally at #1 Minnesota at the Mariucci Classic to send the Raiders to the title game ... after the season, invited to and participated in NHL Developmental Camp conducted by the New Jersey Devils. 

Freshmen Year (2012-13): Appeared on the blueline in 35 games in his first season for the Raiders ... recorded eight points, all as assists ... tallied his first collegiate point with an assist against Bowling Green on Oct. 20 ... had two assists in a 5-1 win over Quinnipiac at the Cape Cod Collegiate Classic ... recorded two more assists against Sacred Heart on Jan. 5 ... posted 28 blocked shots. 

Before Colgate: Was the CCHL Defenseman of the Year in 2011-12 for the Nepean Raiders of the Central Canadian Hockey League ... won the 2012 championship with 18 points on nine goals and nine assists in 18 games ... led the league's defensemen in regular season points with 71 in 56 games ... had 17 goals and 54 assists ... including the playoffs, finished the year with 89 points on 26 goals and 63 helpers ... played two seasons with the Raiders, amassing 135 points ... was a CCHL First Team All-Star in 2012 and voted the playoff's Most Valuable Player ... was third team CCHL All-Star in 2011 ... attended Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School and also lettered in track and field.

Personal: Ryan Brodie Johnston was born in Sudbury, Ont., and is the son of Robert and Colleen Johnston ... has two brothers and three sisters ... sister, Sarah, played hockey at Cornell from 2004-08 ... sister, Rebecca, plays hockey at Cornell currently and is a member of the Canadian National Team ... brother, Jacob, played one season at Cornell ... sister, Kathleen, played hockey and soccer at Harvard.
