Raiders Host Colgate Volleyball Classic

HAMILTON – The Colgate volleyball program is slated to host its home opener in the Colgate Volleyball Classic. The Raiders welcome No. 7 Arizona State, Princeton and Villanova.

COLGATE
  • The Raiders were selected to finish second in the Patriot League, behind the reigning champions, American. Colgate embarked on its 2026 season at the Tennessee Tournament. The Raiders went 1-2, falling to No. 22 Tennessee and Fairfield, but took a 3-2 win over Morehead State Colgate's team leaders by category feature Tiana Owens in kills (29), Ava Schabes in assists (47), Stella Labreque in blocks (6), and Hannah Langton in digs (46). 
ARIZONA STATE 
  • Arizona State, nationally ranked No. 7, is slated to be the Raiders' toughest opponent this season. The Sun Devils were named the favorite to win the Big 12 conference with 12 votes. Arizona State gathered the Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year, Noemie Glover, and three members selected to the Preseason team: Aniya Clinton, Una Vajagic, and Glover. The Sun Devils defeated No. 2 Texas 3-1 in the Jeep AVCA First Serve. In the State Farm Volleyball Showcase, Arizona State took down No. 14 Minnesota 3-0, then fell to No. 20 USC 3-0. They are 2-1 coming into the tournament. 
PRINCETON 
  • After a stellar 2025 season, capping off winning the Ivy League Championship, the Tigers were ranked to finish atop their preseason poll with 11 votes. The Tigers have yet to play a game this season, as they will debut against Villanova tomorrow, but Princeton posted a 5-0 neutral record last season. The Tigers graduated four seniors, but the core three of Ella Bunde, Valerie Nutakor, and Lucia Scalamandre return. Nutakor led the team in kills with 290, and Scalamandre was right behind her with 255. 
VILLANOVA 
  • Villanova was selected to finish second in the Big East Volleyball Preseason Poll. Creighton was the unanimous first-place decision in the league. The Wildcats competed at the Pepperdine Asics Classic, taking on the host first, falling 3-1, but topping Sacramento State 3-1 and South Dakota State 3-2. Villanova's leading attackers in kills are Campbell McKinnon (38), Cat Young (38), and Chloe Kelly (34). McKinnon, a menace at the net, had also totaled 21 blocks on the season, with five solo and 16 block assists.
