BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate Softball's first-year standout
Kayla Martin has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Martin earned the honor following a dominant performance at the plate that helped lead the Raiders to a 3-1 record on the week – including two run-rule victories, a pair of home triumphs, and the program's first series win over Army since 2021.
The left-handed hitter from Los Alamitos, Calif., batted an impressive .545 (6-for-11) while posting a 1.091 slugging percentage and a .643 on-base percentage. She powered the Raiders' offense with two home runs, nine RBIs, and two runs scored across four games.
Martin went 2-for-2 with a walk, a grand slam, four RBIs, and a run scored in Colgate's 11-1 win at Binghamton on Wednesday. During Saturday's doubleheader against Army, she collected three hits, including a three-run homer, while driving in four runs and scoring once.
This is Martin's second Patriot League weekly nod in three weeks, as she joins Marina Taveras as a two-time Rookie of the Week honoree. This is also the third straight week Colgate has landed a weekly honor after Nora Megenity secured back-to-back Player of the Week laurels.
