BOSTON – Elyssa Biederman provided all the scoring and
Farah Walker posted a 29-save shutout in leading the Colgate women's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Boston College Saturday afternoon in the first game of 2026 inside
Conte Forum.
After a scoreless first period, Biederman broke loose twice in the second period before cashing in early in the third period to secure her third career hat trick – and first since Feb. 28, 2025, in a 5-2 win over Princeton. Walker made 11 saves in the first, seven in the second, and 11 in the third.
COACH DECOSSE'S COMMENTS
"It was important for us to kick off the second half of the year against a strong opponent. I liked our connectivity with and without the puck tonight. We had good jump, our special teams performed well, and we got some timely saves. A good team win."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Casey Borgiel's wrist shot from the center of the point staged the game's first goal. Biederman was left alone in front and tipped it past the net minder for a 1-0 Raider lead at the 11:11 mark of the second term.
Three minutes later Biederman took an outlet pass in for a breakaway and lifted a backhanded shot high into the netting to double Colgate's lead with 5:06 remaining. The Raiders killed off a penalty and Walker made one save down the stretch to preserve a two-goal margin after two periods.
Colgate came out strong in the third and cashed in on the power play. Alexis Petford found Biederman wide open in the slot, where she picked her spot and fired a wrist shot to the back of the net for a 3-0 lead just over a minute into the final stanza.
Special teams once again shined for the Raiders, who killed off two penalties in the period. Walker stood tall in net, registering 11 saves in the third period to notch her first career clean sheet.
