Winn and Noa added to track and field coaching staff

HAMILTON - Chelsea France and the Colgate track and field teams announced the addition of two new assistant coaches beginning this winter.

Ashley Winn joins the Raiders after working as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Syracuse. Winn brings a strong background in both athletic performance and sports medicine to the program, with extensive experience in physical therapy and Division I track and field.

Head coach Chelsea France on Winn, "Ashley brings an exceptional combination of competitive experience, scientific knowledge, and genuine care for student-athletes. Her understanding of both performance and wellness will be a tremendous asset to our program, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Colgate Track & Field family."

Winn worked as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant at Physical Therapy Plus, where she designed and implemented training programs to support athlete development, improve performance, and assist in injury prevention and recovery. Her responsibilities included coaching runners on proper mechanics, correcting technique across multiple track and field events, and modifying training plans to safely progress athletes back to peak performance. She also previously served as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, gaining hands-on experience in rehabilitation, exercise progression, and patient care.

A former Division I student-athlete, Winn earned a track and field scholarship to UMass Amherst and competed at the national level in the 60-meter and 200-meter events. During her collegiate career, she developed a deep understanding of sprint mechanics, training methodologies, and competitive preparation, while also assisting coaches with drill execution and supporting teammate development. Winn competed in track and field from 2009–2014 and brings strong expertise in block starts, reaction time, and sprint technique.

Winn earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Syracuse University in 2017 and completed her Associate Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant at SUNY Onondaga Community College in 2022, graduating with Provost's List honors. Her combined experience as a clinician and elite athlete allows her to take a comprehensive approach to athlete health, development, and performance.

Christian Noa also joins Colgate as an assistant coach after a stint at Ithaca College. Noa joins the program with a strong foundation in coaching, athlete development, and exercise science, highlighted by his experience at the Division III level and in competitive recruiting environments.

"We are excited to welcome Christian Noa to our coaching staff. Christian joins us from Ithaca College, where he played an important role in supporting the distance program. A former student-athlete at the State University of New York at Oneonta, he brings a data- and research-driven approach to training, an exceptional work ethic, and a sharp attention to detail. His commitment to athlete development has already made a strong impression, and we are confident he will be a tremendous asset to our cross country and track & field programs," France added.

Noa served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the cross country and track & field programs at Ithaca College, where he contributed to daily training operations, athlete monitoring, and program organization. His responsibilities included designing and maintaining athlete training logs and performance dashboards to track training load, wellness metrics, and progression, as well as assisting in the development and adjustment of individualized and team training plans.

Noa has been involved extensively in meet management, assisting with high school indoor meets and collegiate competitions including the Ithaca College Quad Meet, Bomber Invitational, Liberty League Championships, and AARTFC Championships. His experience includes facility setup, timing operations, volunteer coordination, and supervision of student-athletes to ensure smooth and efficient meet execution.

Prior to Ithaca College, Noa served as a student intern with the SUNY Oneonta cross country and track & field programs, assisting with course setup, meet operations, and social media communication. He also worked as a counselor at the Duke University Cross Country Camp, leading groups of athletes and ensuring a positive and structured camp environment.

Noa earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Exercise Science at Ithaca College, with an expected completion date of December 2025.
