Box Score MIAMI — Colgate women's tennis's win streak finally ended Tuesday morning, falling 5-2 to Summit League leaders Omaha. The Raiders were led by senior captain
Eliza Podlas and first-year
Rebecca Hess, who picked up the two wins for the squad.
"I thought the ladies had a hard fought battle today," said Assistant Coach Jake Sandler. "We did not perform well in doubles but raised our level in singles. I thought Omaha was very solid all around but we competed much better in singles and without Montero at two. Shout out to first-year Rebecca on another stellar win at No. 4 to put her at 12-4 on the year and senior captain Eliza for her third straight win."
Colgate dropped the doubles point after a strong showing from Omaha's lines two and three. Sophomore Sophia Montero and junior Amelia Galin went unfinished as they were tied at 3-3 when the point was clinched for the Mavericks.
Omaha continued their momentum through singles, taking courts two, three, and six to clinch the match. However, Podlas had a strong performance at line five, winning 7-5, 6-0. Galin lost 6-3, 6-3 at line one, but Hess capped off the matchup with a 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 win at line four to end on a high note.
The Raiders return to action on Wednesday for the last matchup of their spring break trip, taking Stony Brook at 10 a.m.
