Raiders Garner First Conference Victory Over Pards

Meabon and Streiff’s hot hands helps Colgate conclude 2025 stretch

HAMILTON —
Through seven lead changes in the game, Colgate (5-7, 1-0 Patriot) emerged victorious 63–57, to hand Lafayette (4-8, 0-1 Patriot) its first conference loss and fifth consecutive defeat.

Amarah Streiff returned to the Raiders starting lineup after missing the last five matchups. Despite time away, Streiff returned with fire as she recorded four new career highs in points (16), rebounds (7), field goals made (5), and three-pointers made (3).

Ella Meabon, one rebound short of her second double-double, boasted 27 points, nine rebounds, and an assist. Of the junior's total points, 12 came from the foul line as she shot 12-for-14.

Madison Schiller, finding her way back into the starting line up, matched her season-best 10 points in addition to eight rebounds, six assists, and a flawless showing at the foul line.

Notably, Colgate recorded its season-high in rebounds with 46, alongside a season high of 14 assists. Of the 46 rebounds, 14 were offensive as the Raiders added 12 points off second-chance opportunities.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening quarter saw a back-and-forth battle between the Raiders and the Leopards, with both teams exchanging leads frequently. Streiff nailed back-to-back threes to give the Raiders a 6–4 edge. Colgate generated a quick 4–0 run followed by Streiff's third consecutive three-pointer to lead 13–9.

Laila Hankerson added a layup to Colgate's total as the Raiders led by three to end the first quarter.

Lafayette quickly tied the game up out of the gate, but not before Colgate's Meabon responded with a jumper, and Streiff followed with a layup assisted by Schiller, pushing the Raiders ahead briefly.

Meabon herself went on an 8–0 run for Colgate scoring from the floor, beyond the arc, and the foul line. The two teams traded points but not before Lafayette hit a last-second jumper to enter the half with a one-point advantage, 32–31.
Colgate outscored Lafayette 16–9 in the third quarter to gain a six-point advantage. Five different Raiders contributed to Colgate's largest 11–0 run of the game. Schiller and Streiff nailed three-pointers, Christina Midgette and Abbey Ferguson each tallied a bucket, and Meabon added a pair from the foul line.

The Pards were able to add seven late points to their total but Meabon's jumper helped the Raiders enter the final quarter with a seven-point advantage, 47–41.

Colgate and Lafayette ended the fourth quarter tied in scoring, each adding 16 points, but the Raiders maintained their lead to secure the win.

Early in the quarter, the Pards' three-pointer cut Lafayette's deficit, bringing the score to 44–47. Lafayette entered panic mode as they gave up seven shooting fouls to Colgate.

Meabon led the way with consistent free-throw shooting, converting six of seven attempts. Schiller and Streiff converted all of their foul shots, concluding the game with a 63–57 win for the Raiders.
