Banks Brings Five Plus Years of Experience

HAMILTON – Kalyn Banks completes the Colgate women's basketball coaching staff heading into the 2026-27 season, head coach Shannon Bush announced.

Banks brings five years of collegiate coaching experience from previous roles, including graduate assistant at Xavier University of Louisiana (2023-26), assistant coach at Nicholls State University (2022-23) and assistant coach at South Plains College (2021-22).

"We are thrilled to welcome Kalyn to Colgate University," said Bush. "Kalyn brings five years of collegiate coaching and operations experience, an innate ability to connect with and relate to student athletes, as well as an elite work ethic. She brings warmth and genuine buoyancy to all of her interactions and will make an immediate positive impact on our program, our campus, and the Hamilton community!"

Banks joins the program with multiple accomplishments, including placing multiple athletes in NCAA Division I and Division II programs, winning the Region IV championship in March 2022 and making a semifinal appearance in the NJCAA Division I Tournament. She also helped lead teams to Red River Conference runner-up finishes two consecutive years (2023-25), NAIA Tournament appearances (2024-25) and NAIA first- and second-round championships (2024-25).

At Xavier University of Louisiana, Banks assisted with coaching one of the best teams in program history during the 2024-25 season. The team posted a 29-4 overall record, including a 15-1 mark at home and a 13-2 record on the road. Four players earned All-Conference honors, one being her younger sister.

"I am excited about joining the Colgate Women's Basketball Program," said Banks. "One of the things that stood out to me about Colgate is the high standards it sets for student athletes both on and off the court. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Shannon, the staff, and our players. I'm looking forward to bringing my past experiences and passion for the game to Colgate, learning from those coaches around me, and doing my part to help the program continue to move forward. I'm extremely proud to be a Raider!"

In addition to her coaching experience, Banks played four years of women's basketball at Randolph College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. She appeared in 94 games, making 67 starts during her career. She scored 908 points, averaging 9.7 points per game, and posted a .404 field-goal percentage.

Banks graduated from Randolph College with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2020. She recently graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2026.
