Colgate’s season ends with 72–36 loss to the Crusaders

WORCESTER, Mass. – Colgate wrapped up its 2025-26 season in Worcester, Mass., falling to Holy Cross, 72-36, in the Patriot League quarterfinal game.

COACH BUSH'S COMMENTS
"I couldn't be more grateful for our incredible group of six seniors who have left a lasting impact on this program. Their commitment, passion and determination helped guide us this season through significant adversity culminating in a tournament win. We are excited to see what they go on to achieve & will always welcome them back home to Colgate with open arms.

"We look forward to making them proud on the court next season."

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tight game in the opening minutes as Holy Cross scored first, followed by Grace Klag's jumper to level the score at 2-2.

Midway through the quarter, the Crusaders produced a 10-0 run, knocking down two 3-pointers and adding two layups to take a 13-point lead, 17-4. Amarah Streiff scored two layups, but the Raiders trailed 19-11 after the first 10 minutes.

Christina Midgette struck first in the second quarter with a contested layup to bring the deficit back to single digits, cutting the lead to 19-10.

The Crusaders responded with a mini run, going on a 6-0 stretch by capitalizing on Colgate's missed opportunities. Madison Schiller and Ella Meabon each contributed four points, but Holy Cross's hot shooting helped keep them ahead entering halftime, 36-18.

With shots not falling for Colgate in the third quarter, Holy Cross extended its lead, outscoring the Raiders 24-13.

Both teams came out with energy to start the half, knocking down shots early. In the final five minutes of the third quarter, however, the scoring swung in Holy Cross's favor as the Crusaders scored 17 of their 24 points, showcasing versatility from the floor, beyond the 3-point line, and at the foul line.

Colgate attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Raiders' offense remained quiet as they scored just five points compared to Holy Cross's 12. The Crusaders maintained control as time expired, securing a 72-36 victory over the Raiders.
