HOW IT HAPPENED
Tatiana Matthews brought the energy for the Raiders, scoring the first bucket and later stuffing a Bobcat shot. Amarah Streiff gave the Raiders their first lead, 7–6, on an assist from Anne Bair. Ella Meabon and Lara Cook each added a bucket to stem a 7–0 Raider run and give Colgate an 11–6 advantage. Quinnipiac then mounted a run of its own, scoring 18 unanswered points on three jumpers and four three-pointers. Anne Bair halted the Bobcats' run with a late layup, bringing the deficit to 24–13.
Streiff helped spark the offense in the start of the second, knocking down a three for the Raiders. Meabon found her rhythm, knocking down two free throws and a lay up to chip away at the deficit, 31–20. The Bobcats responded with another run, adding 13 more to enter halftime with a 44–20 lead.
Matthews finally snapped a 10-minute Raider scoring drought–and halted the Bobcats' run–with a pull-up jumper at the free-throw line, followed by an easy layup that brought Colgate to within 51–24. Cook and Meabon took trips to the foul line and hit their shots, but Quinnipiac continued its dominance, putting up 12 straight to extend the lead to 67–28. Cook scored a quick five points for Colgate to close out the third quarter, 69–33.
Matthews gave Colgate its first points of the quarter with two free throws and a three-pointer. First-years Kennedy Parrott and Cronin fueled a 7–0 spur for the Raiders. Parrot knocked down two baskets as Cronin scored her first collegiate three-pointer.
Grace Klag collected a rebound to score her first two points of the game off a layup. Cronin knocked down her second three pointer of the game, but the Bobcats responded with a basket of their own to close out a 77–50 win and hand Colgate its first loss of the season.
