CALGARY, Alberta  — Three Raiders  —  Hannah Murphy, Emma Pais and Madeline Palumbo — were named to Canada's National Women's Development Team on Thursday night, HockeyCanada announced. It marks the second straight year the trio will play together after competing in the Collegiate Select Series against the United States last summer. 

All three Raiders saw significant playing time in the 2023 friendly series with Murphy making two starts, logging a .884 save percentage and making 69 stops in two Canada losses. Murphy also suited up with the 2022 Canada Development Team, stopping .889 percent of shots faced with 32 saves in one appearance.  

Palumbo and Pais both played in all three contests last August. The pair even connected for the opening score of an Aug. 19, 4-3 loss, with Palumbo burying a goal off the assist from Pais. 

Pais previously donned the Maple Leaf at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in Madison, Wisconsin, where she appeared in every game and scored one goal en route to a gold medal. She repeated as a gold medalist at the 2023 IIHF Women's Worlds in Östersund, Sweden alongside future Raiders Avery Pickering and Alexia Aubin. Pais led the 2023 team with five assists and chipped in two goals with a +13 rating.  

Murphy, Pais, Palumbo and the rest of Team Canada will face off against the United States in a three-game series from Aug. 14-17 in St. Catharines Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.
