HAMILTON – A trio of Raiders tallied multi-point games as part of 11 total scoring contributors in a 5-1 victory against eighth-seeded Brown on Saturday afternoon.
Elyssa Biederman and
Allyson Simpson each earned an assist and a helper while fifth-year captain
Danielle Serdachny stretched her point streak to three games with two assists.
"I thought Danielle and her line were terrific all weekend long," head coach Greg Fargo said. "Our captain sets the tone for the rest of the team and she was all over the ice this weekend."
"We've been looking forward to the playoffs for a long time," Fargo continued. "We have an experienced group that's been there before, and to be able to play at home in front of our own fans is very exciting."
Colgate punched their ticket to the ECAC Semifinals with authority, outshooting Brown 55-10, the team's third-highest shot total all season.
Despite the lopsided final statistics, the Raiders seemed to be in a dogfight early after a scoreless first period where Colgate failed to cash in on two power-play chances, including a five-minute major at the 10:12 mark.
It did not take long for that to change, however, as Biederman found the back of the net just over a minute into the second stanza, redirecting a missile from Simpson for Colgate's first score of the afternoon.
In the final minute of the second, Sydney Morrow doubled the lead by rifling a rocket from the slot bar-down to send the Raiders into the final frame up a pair.
Simpson poked in a goal on a Colgate power-play to open the third period, but Brown was quick to answer with a man-up goal of their own.
ECAC All-Rookie selection Emma Pais tucked a puck in the top right corner off the helper from Serdachny for the third goal in less than two minutes, and Neena Brick scored an empty-netter with 90 seconds remaining to cap off Colgate's third-straight win against Brown.
