COLGATE COACHING CAREER
Prior to Colgate, Fargo spent four seasons as the successful head coach at Division III Elmira (2008-12). He recorded an 84-23-5 (.772) record at Elmira, including a Division III-best 24 wins during the 2008-09 season. Fargo led Elmira to the brink of an NCAA championship in both 2009 and 2010, finishing with second and third-place trophies and capturing a pair of ECAC West championships in the process. He earned 2009 ECAC West Co-Coach of the Year honors and was a two-time nominee for AHCA Coach of the Year.

Fargo is a 2006 graduate of Elmira, where he received a bachelor’s degree in adolescent education and social studies. In his goaltending career at Elmira, Fargo helped Elmira earn two appearances in the ECAC West Championship finals and NCAA Division III Frozen Four.

Fargo left holding the all-time career saves and minutes-played records at Elmira, recording a combined 2,565 saves in 5,123 minutes during his four seasons. When he departed, his 2005-06 save percentage of .926 was the all-time best at Elmira, while his goals-against average in that same season ranked him second in the program’s 34-year history.

Following graduation, Fargo served on the men’s ice hockey coaching staff at Canisius, where his responsibilities with the Golden Griffins included the planning and implementation of game and practice plans, as well as scouting, video analysis, community outreach and recruiting.

A native of Kingston, Ontario, Fargo earned his master’s degree from Canisius in physical education. He and his wife, Katie, reside in Hamilton with their daughters, Harper and Emerson.

Colgate University's Head Women's Hockey Coach Greg Fargo will look to continue his illustrious career behind the Raiders bench for the 2023-24 season. Most recently, Colgate posted a 32-6-2 overall record for the 2022-23 season, marking Fargo's third 30+ win season at the helm in Hamilton. The Raiders were also crowned ECAC Regular Season Champions, defeating Clarkson to win their third straight Conference Championship.

In 2021, Fargo’s Raiders posted a record of 30-8-1, going 16-5-1 in ECAC action.

The fifth-seeded Raiders took down Yale in a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory, clinching their second-straight trip to the NCAA tournament. The remarkable season was enough to win the Canada native ECACHL Coach of the Year honors, joining Scott Wiley (2004) as the only other coach to win the award.

Fargo now owns a career NCAA head coaching record of 334-170-39 and a stellar mark of 255-147-34 (.651) at Colgate. He is the longest-tenured coach in program history (12 seasons) and also holds the record for most wins. Fargo has accomplished both feats all while maintaining the highest winning percentage of any Raiders women's ice hockey coach.

In addition to Fargo’s success with the Colgate program, he also earned kudos as an assistant coach for Canada’s Under-18 National Team, earning a silver medal in January at the 2016 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship. Fargo continues to be an important part of the women’s amateur hockey program in his native country, serving as a Camp Coach on the Canada National Women's Team Fall Festival Roster.
