ALBANY, N.Y. — A caused turnover from
Max Yates led to a game-winning goal from
Rory Connor, giving Colgate an 11-10 victory over UAlbany on Saturday afternoon.
Connor's game-winner was one of his two goals, putting together a three-point performance with an assist.
Hunter Drouin also found the back of the net twice and provided a helper.
Yates knocked the ball out of a Great Dane player's stick with 1:40 left in the fourth.
Sam Erickson picked up the ground ball and passed down low to
Griffin Walker, who made a short dish to Connor for a shot right in front.
UAlbany scored the only other goal in the fourth quarter at the 7:53 mark to knot the score at 10-10.
The two sides exchanged tallies in the third. The Great Danes pulled within one at 10-9 with just under two and a half minutes left. Michael Mincius, Turner, and Ben Turmble scored following UAlbany goals earlier.
Colgate opened the second on a 4-1 run, getting two in a row after Turner and
Rory Connor found the back of the net in the opening 2:15. The Raiders then got another two from Trumble and Drouin following a Great Dane goal to take a three-goal lead, their largest of the game at 7-4. The Great Danes notched one more goal with four seconds left in the half.
The Raiders began the game on a 3-0 run with tallies from Eldredge, Drouin, and Favaro. The Great Danes answered with three straight of their own to knot the score at 3-3 at the end of the period.
Liam Connor,
Aidan Murnane, Erickson, and Yates all logged two caused turnovers for Colgate. Additionally, Murnane and Yates led the Raiders with five ground balls each.
