HAMILTON — Colgate used a balanced effort on both sides of the net to sweep Holy Cross and run its winning streak to five matches Friday night at Cotterell Court.
Milan Bayless led Colgate's offensive clip that hit .426 overall with a team-high 11 kills to go with a .500 hitting percentage and a team-high eight digs. Frances Torres landed six kills with a .545 hitting percentage. Deren Cukur (24) and Sydney Jones (21) anchored the offense with 45 combined assists.
Defensively Greta Hoogstra, Frances Torres, Téa Bosanac, Maddie Rudolph, and Bayless each registered two block assists. The Raiders limited Holy Cross to a .049 hitting percentage.

"I was really pleased with our serve and pass tonight. Our setters made some good decisions and our attackers put some really good swings on the ball. We have another big match Sunday against an always strong Army team."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 | Colgate 25, Holy Cross 14
Colgate took control from the get-go, with a pair of service aces from Libby Overmyer fueling an early 7-1 lead. The Raiders hit .435 overall with four kills each from Bayless and Lal Akin. Torres hammered home a kill to cap a late 4-0 burst and stretch the lead to 18-11. The Crusaders never threatened and Akin's kill ended the frame with the Raiders cruising, 25-14.
Set 2 | Colgate 25, Holy Cross 9
The Raiders carried over their momentum and turned it into one of their most dominant sets of the season. With five service aces and 13 attacks against just three errors the Raiders ran away with Set 2. Once again Colgate got off to a hot start, with Hoogstra's kill opening a 10-2 lead. Overmyer's kill extended the lead to 16-6 and the lead stayed in double-digits the rest of the way.
Set 3 | Colgate 25, Holy Cross 13
Colgate finished off the sweep with another dominant performance in Set 3. Rudolph landed a pair of kills on two attempts to help the Raiders build a 6-0 lead that never diminished. Abby Shadwick landed a kill followed by back-to-back aces from Cukur to stretch the margin to 20-10 and Colgate ran away with the final set to complete the sweep, 25-13.
