HAMILTON – Dara Greig and
Danielle Serdachny poured in five and six points, respectively, to help lift the No. 4 Raiders past Harvard, 10-1, in Colgate's annual Autism and Neurodivergence Awareness game on Friday night. The upperclassmen duo were two of 14 total Raiders who tallied a point, seven of which were multi-point scorers.
"Everyone was going today. It was a really special game and we had contributions all through the lineup," Serdachny said. "We got down one to nothing but there was not any worry from the team. We all came together and played for a good cause which makes it even better."
The Raiders started slow, conceding the first goal to the visitors and heading into the opening intermission boasting a 16-4 shots advantage but an even score. The one-score tie did not last for long, however, as the Raiders rattled off five second-period goals as part of nine unanswered.
Tessa Holk kicked off the run with her second goal of the season as Kas Betinol picked up her second point of the night with the helper. Serdachny took part in three out of the next four goals, all of which took place in under 90 seconds, which gave the Raiders a commanding 6-1 advantage after 40 minutes.
Allyson Simpson also picked up her 100th career point during the scoring spurt, collecting the rebounded puck off a Serdachny rebound and depositing it in the back of the net.
Colgate's special teams continued to stick out as one of the most dominant units in the country, with three out of the Raiders' four goals in the final frame coming in man-up situations.
Madeline Palumbo poked in the only even-strength score of the third after potting her sixth goal of the season from Neena Brick and Avery Pickering.
