HAMILTON – Colgate University Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach
Chelsea France has announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches,
Willie Moore and
Lou Fiorillo.
"I am beyond thrilled to join the Colgate cross country and track staff," Moore said. "The academics, location, and facilities are top-notch. Coach France and the staff are intelligent and welcoming. I can't wait to teach and learn from this group of athletes."
Moore hails from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics while competing on both the cross country and track & field teams. He has been serving as the assistant coach of both programs since 2019 and has also spent time with Discovery Canyon High School as an assistant and Monument Academy Charter School as a head coach.
From Head Coach Chelsea France:
"Willie Moore is a true student of the sport that has extensive knowledge in distance events and developing student-athletes at all levels. As a successful former student-athlete and now coach he has the tools to teach and develop student-athletes to excel while also prioritizing trusting relationships with his student-athletes. I am very excited to work with Coach Moore in continuing to build a healthy competitive culture that provides holistic support both on and off the track."
Fiorillo heads to Hamilton with a plethora of coaching experience to his name already. He spent over two decades at the Corning-Painted Post Area School District as head coach of both the cross country and track & field programs. He had a three-year stint at Colgate as an assistant volleyball coach before joining Elmira College as head cross country coach in 2019. Fiorillo's recent retirement from coaching was spent as a personal trainer working with young athletes of all levels.
"I want to thank Chelsea and Colgate University for this opportunity to work with these talented student-athletes. I look forward to helping our student-athletes become the best they can be both on and off the course/track."
From Head Coach Chelsea France:
"Coach Fiorillo is a veteran coach that has a wealth of knowledge and experience at all levels and specialties. He will be a great mentor and leader for both our cross country and track & field student-athletes and an asset to our team's future success. I am thrilled that he has decided to step out of retirement to join our program and look forward to witnessing the impact he will make."
