WORCESTER, Mass. – Colgate women's rowing competed in the 2023 Women's Eastern Sprints Sunday against major programs on Lake Quinsigamond.
The Raiders launched four boats throughout the day, sporting two varsity eight boats and two varsity four boats. Colgate battled light rain and wind from start to finish.
Colgate's 1v4 hit the water first, taking part in the Varsity Four A. The boat started out in heat two, sporting a time of 8:08.060 and a spot in the Third Level Final against top programs in Cornell and Boston College. In the final, the boat edged out Marist by nine seconds to secure a time of 7:59.950 and a fifth-place finish.
The Raiders continued the day with their 2v4 competing in the Varsity Four B. The boat started the day in heat two with a time of 8:27.020 and a spot in the Third Level Final. In their final race of the day, the boat sported an improved time of 8:16.520 and a second-place finish.
The 2v8 boat kicked off their day with a 9:00 a.m. start in heat one of the Second Varsity Eight, finishing with a time of 7:25.380 and a spot in the Third Level Final. The boat finished with an improved time of 7:23.670 in the final with a sixth-place finish.
As the day continued, Colgate's 1v8 took part in the Varsity Eight as they started the day from heat two. The boat crossed the finish line with a time of 7:01.640 and a spot in the Third Level Final. The Raiders' improved in the final with a time of 6:56.590 and a sixth-place finish.
UP NEXT
Colgate shifts their focus to prep for the Patriot League Championship on May 12th. The boats will hit the water in Worcester, Mass.
