Colgate competes against George Washington, Cornell, and Boston U.

ITHACA, N.Y. Colgate women's rowing traveled to Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday to compete against George Washington, Cornell, and Boston U. in the Cayuga Inlet Duals.

Colgate's eights and fours competed in duals throughout the day, battling George Washington in the morning and Boston U. in the afternoon.

The 2V4+ and 3V4+ dueled in the morning against George Washington and Cornell, respectively, before combining the boats into a 3V8+ to be coxed by Helena Cerutti against Cornell's 3V8+ and 4V8+  in their second round of racing.

COACH LISTER'S COMMENTS
"Resiliency describes the effort put forth by the team today. Temps and wind made for difficult conditions, with some snow in the afternoon. And the team responded! We got to see two formidable crews in George Washington and Boston U. Our only victory came in the varsity 8+ in the morning session with George Washington. The crew set a good base rate and built off of it in the second part of the race. As with all our boats, we are focusing on rowing a consistent rhythm and maintaining our length of stroke. We have 2 weeks to prepare for the Knecht Cup which will allow us time to focus on our lineups."

FIRST ROUND
Colgate's 1V8+ started off racing with a duel against George Washington, crossing the line first in 7:05.0. Senior coxswain, Katherine Metcalf, was commended for her ability to hold a strong line against the Revolutionaries through the bridge, which aided in the Raiders' win. George Washington crossed the line five seconds later, with a time of 7:10.6.

The Raiders' 2V8+ fell to George Washington's time of 7:28.29 in their first round of racing, and clocked in at 7:51.03. Overall, Boston U. bested the other 2V8+ crews with a time of 7:06.1, narrowly taking down Cornell's time of 7:07.9.

Both the 1V4+ and 2V4+ fell to the Revolutionaries in their duels, with the 1V4+ finishing with a time of 8:44.8, and the 2V4+ posting a time of 8:44.9.

In the overall 1V4+ standings, Boston U. finished first with a time of 7:50.37. They were followed by Cornell (8:02.82), George Washington (8:14.1), and finally Colgate.

Boston continued to clear the rest of the 2V4+ crews by 15 seconds, clocking in at 8:07.4. Their time was followed by George Washington (8:23.8) and Cornell (8:23.35).

Colgate and Cornell were the only teams that had a 3V4+, along with the Big Red having a 4V4+. The trio of boats found Cornell's 3V4+ taking the lead over the other crews with a time of 8:12.0, followed by their 4V4+ posting a time of 8:23.7. Colgate crossed the finish in 9:10.4.

SECOND ROUND
Both eights and the 1V4+ had their afternoon duel against Patriot League foes, Boston U., falling to the Terriers in both events.

The 1V8+ crossed the line with a time of 6:54.9, while the 2V8+ found themselves with a time of 7:09.6.

Colgate's 2V8+ and 1V4+ also found themselves second to Boston U., crossing the line in 7:55.8 and 9:04.9, respectively.

The 3V8+ took their combined lineup to the water for the first time against Cornell in the athletes' second round of racing. The crew clocked Colgate out for the day with a time of 8:13.6, falling to both of Cornell's 3V8+ (7:31.0) and 4V8+ (7:47.4).
