Raiders Compete Against Lehigh on Senior Day

Women’s rowing graduates 11 seniors

ROME, N.Y. – The Colgate Raiders took on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in a head to head race on the Erie Canal. The day spotlighted Colgate's 11 seniors and two of four first place finishes for the Raiders.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first event of the day featured the First Varsity Four in the canal. Lehigh took the first place finish in this race with a time of 7:47.18 and shortly after the Mountain Hawks, Colgate crossed the finish line with a time of 8:00.60.

Colgate's First Varsity Eight led by coxswain Katherine Metcalf beat out the Mountain Hawks by 13 seconds. The Raiders crossed the finish line with a time of 6:38.35 compared to Lehigh's 6:51.55.

The Raiders Second Varsity Eight finished behind Lehigh in their race as the Mountain Hawks crossed the finish line in 6:52.83 to Colgate's 7:04.10.

In the final event of the day Colgate's Second Varsity Four and Third Varsity Four went against Lehigh's 2V4. Colgate was able to take the first and third place finish in this race to conclude the day on a high note. The Raiders' 2V4 claimed a first place finish with 7:40.39. It was a neck-to-neck finish between the last two boats and Lehigh's 2V4 finished with a time of 8:05.50 edging Colgate's 3V4 by two seconds, 8:07.35.

UP NEXT
The Raiders have two weeks to prepare as they will head to Camden, N.J. to compete in the Patriot League Championships. 

SENIORS
The women's rowing program would like to thank its 11 seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program. Today, the team recognized Anya Suko, Sarah Regner, Elena Myatt, Katherine Metcalf, Morgan McClutchy, Talya Djemil, Marie Clausen, Grace Ciaravino, Sophia Cerroni, Rebecca Carew, and Flannery Cameron.
