Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Holy Cross

Raiders Drop 13-7 Road Decision

WORCESTER, Mass. – Colgate cut the deficit to two goals in the fourth quarter but couldn't complete the comeback before falling to Holy Cross 13-7 Wednesday night.

Back-to-back fourth-quarter goals from Devon Maillet and Kyra Lucey brought Colgate within 9-7 with 10:43 left in regulation. The Raiders looked poised for a comeback after going on a two-player advantage for nearly two full minutes, but Holy Cross capitalized with a short-handed marker to spark a 4-0 closing run over the final 7:58.

Holy Cross scored five goals in the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Raiders 10-4 over those two frames to make the difference. The two teams were even 2-2 in the first quarter and traded one goal apiece in the third quarter.

Quick goals from Kait Henning and Sarah Marcovici gave Colgate an early 2-1 lead which it held for most of the opening stanza. Holy Cross found the back of the net with 17 seconds left in the frame to even the score 2-2 after one quarter of action.

Molly Krestinski scored both Colgate goals in the second quarter, but unfortunately they came on each end of a 5-0 surge for the Crusaders, who established a 8-4 lead at halftime. Isabela Miller struck three times during the home team's run.

Colgate trimmed the deficit to two goals in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer after the Crusaders scored the final four tallies to seal the 13-7 decision.
