VESTAL, N.Y. — Colgate women's lacrosse fell 17-9 at Binghamton on Wednesday afternoon.
Kyra Lucey (1 goal, two assists) and
Kait Henning (2 goals, 1 assist) each logged three-point performances for the Raiders, while
Caroline Panzirer and
Devon Maillet each tallied two goals.
Panzirer netted both her goals in the first quarter. She scored the game's first goal at the 10:32 mark off a feed from Lucey to put Colgate up 1-0.
The Bearcats answered back with two-straight goals in less than a minute to take the lead at 2-1 with 7:11 remaining. Panzirer then tied the game up at 2-2 with 5:23 left before the Bearcats scored with 13 seconds on the clock to take a 3-2 lead into the first break.
After an early Binghamton goal in the second, the Raiders scored two back quickly, with Henning and Lucey each finding the back of the net.
The remainder of the second-quarter scoring would come from Binghamton as the Bearcats ended the period on a five-goal run to take a 9-4 lead at halftime.
Both teams exchanged an early goal at the start of the second half, helping Binghamton maintain a five-goal lead at 10-5. The Bearcats then notched another five straight throughout the third to push their advantage to nine at 14-5.
Maillet halted the Bearcats' run when she scored her first of two fourth-quarter goals. The sophomore netted her second goal with 5:51 left to make it 15-7. Her score also started a 3-0 run that Colgate ended the game on.
Ella Bishara added her name to the scorebook at the 4:33 mark to put the scoreboard at 17-8. The Raiders' final goal came from freshman
Ellie Hedges when she netted the first of her career with just over a minute left in the game.
Helena Morrison started the game in goal for Colgate, making nine stops in the first three quarters.
Catie Lang then came in to play the final 15 minutes, logging a pair of saves.
The Raiders fired 19 shots in the game, 16 of which were on goal, and they also won 13 draw controls.
