Raiders Drop Overtime to Black Knights

Colgate fell 50-57 in overtime to Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Colgate women's basketball dropped a 50-47 overtime road contest to the Army Black Knights.
 
After being down by two with a little over four minutes left of regulation, Army went on a 5-3 burst to tie the game at 47 to force and eventually take overtime to split the regular season series with the Raiders.
 
Junior Tiasia McMillan scored a season-high 14 points to lead the Raider offense today. McMillan captured nine boards to lead Colgate defensively as well. Freshman Madison Schiller was the other Raider to tally double-figures with 11 points.
 
The Raiders shot 60 percent from the field in the third after an 11-0 run to lead for the first time in the game at 33-30 with 4:46 on the clock. Colgate opened the second half with a 7-0 run thanks to baskets from Christina Midgette, McMillan, and Morgan McMahon to cut the deficit to one. McMillan scored Colgate's ninth unanswered point to push the Raiders ahead 31-30. Schiller kept the run alive with a layup to extend the lead to three with 4:46 left of the third.
 
Army finally got on the board in the second half, breaking Colgate's spurt with a 5-2 run to tie the game at 35. The Black Knights sank a field goal with 41 seconds left to close the third up by two.
 
The Black Knight opened the fourth with five quick points to lead 42-35. Colgate slashed the run with a 6-0 with four points coming from Schiller to trail by one with 5:57 left. Schiller then drained Colgate's first 3-pointer to give the Raiders a 44-42 lead.
 
Army broke the burst with a 5-3 run to tie the game at 47 with 58 seconds left to force overtime. The Black Knights controlled the extra period, holding the Raiders to zero points while scoring three to win 50-47 in overtime.
 
NOTES
  • Schiller's trey was the first scored in two games, with the last Raider 3-pointer being scored back on Feb. 4.
  • The Black Knights outscored Colgate 19-6 in the first.
  • Each team scored 30 points in the paint.
  • Colgate drops to 2-2 in overtime games this season.
