Raiders Power Past Tigers

Kaltounková Collects 100th Point

HAMILTON – Colgate women's ice hockey secured the season sweep over Princeton Saturday afternoon in the Class of 1965 Arena.

Kristýna Kaltounková recorded her 100th career point in the Raiders' 6-2 win, collecting the primary assist on Allyson Simpson's 19th career goal.

Colgate exploded for four power-play goals, as the Raiders went four for seven. Colgate came into today's game with .189 power play percentage, 10th in the nation.

Four Raiders contributed for a multi-point game with Simpson, Elyssa Biederman, and Sammy Smigliani potting three apiece while Sydney Bard secured two.

Hannah Murphy stood tall between the pipes, as she stopped 28 shots. Murphy now holds an 11-1 record this season, with 28 career wins, good for eighth in program history.

Princeton fell into penalty trouble early, as it was forced to kill off seven minutes straight. Biederman collected her eighth goal of the year early from a power play snipe inside the circle.

Colgate continued its strong man-advantage with three more power-play goals, Dara Greig, Neena Brick, and Smigliani carried the Raiders to an early 4-0 game. Princeton fired back late into the first period, stopping Colgate's momentum with an even-strength goal.

The Raiders wasted no time in the second period as Katie Chan netted her fourth goal of the season, firing one in off passes from Simpson and Smigliani. Simpson added her name again shortly after, scoring off a rebound.

Princeton found the back of the net for the second time late in the third period, slotting one past Murphy off the faceoff draw. The Tigers' late goal wasn't enough as the Raiders skated past Princeton by a score of 6-2, as they move to 19-3-1 overall and 9-3 in the conference.
