HAMILTON — The Colgate field hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Raiders struck first with 9:50 remaining in the third quarter.

Ella Murphy who dribbled into the shooting circle and fired a shot past the Bald Eagles' goalie to make it 1-0 Raiders.
Lock Haven tied it up with 2:30 remaining in the third. Zabala Lopez fired a ball that Ellie Mead was able to get her stick on it and deflect it into the goal.
The Bald Eagles scored just over three minutes into overtime when Martina Spangenberg finished a shot off a rebound for the golden-goal win.
The Raiders played tough defense in the first quarter, preventing Lock Haven from scoring on two penalty corners. Colgate blocked two Bald Eagles shots on the first corner, and

The fourth quarter saw more back-and-forth action. The Raiders did not get much going offensively but continued constant defensive pressure that kept the Bald Eagles from scoring.
The Raiders fired three shots in the game, landing one on goal.

Head Coach April Cornell-DeAngelis
"It was a hard fought match and our defense played very well. Overtime losses are heartbreaking but our team is feeling really good about how we are connecting and growing. We had eight first years out there competing and this is a great experience early in the season for them. Generating and sustaining more attack and drawing penalty corners will be a focus of ours going into this next match."
