HAMILTON – Colgate University Field Hockey Head Coach
April Cornell-DeAngelis announced her resignation on Thursday afternoon, ending a nine-year run leading the program. Cornell-DeAngelis stepped down to pursue a professional opportunity beyond coaching.
"I am deeply grateful for the tremendous opportunity that Colgate has provided me," said Cornell-DeAngelis. "I feel truly fortunate to have worked with such an exceptional group of student-athletes throughout my tenure at the University. There is something uniquely meaningful about being a Colgate Field Hockey alum, and they will forever remain an important part of my life. Colgate will always hold a special place in my heart, and I extend my sincerest well-wishes to the program for continued success in the future."
Cornell-DeAngelis was named Colgate's head coach in December 2016. In nine seasons at the helm she mentored the development of 13 All-Patriot League selections and seven Academic All-League players.
"Coach Cornell-DeAngelis has served Colgate well in her tenure as Colgate's field hockey coach," Vice President and Director of Athletics Yariv Amir '01 said. "She has been able to recruit and mentor talented and motivated student-athletes who have engaged in all that Colgate offers. We are thankful to April and her family for their contributions to our University and community, and we wish them the very best."
A national search for the next Colgate University field hockey coach begins immediately.
