Men's Hockey Announces 2022-23 Captains

Arnaud Vachon, Pierson Brandon, and Colton Young Will Lead Raiders Next Season

HAMILTON — The Colgate men's hockey team has announced its team captains for the 2022-23 season. Arnaud Vachon will serve as captain, while Pierson Brandon and Colton Young have been named assistant captains.
 
A junior forward, Vachon appeared in all 40 games for the Raiders last season, recording a career-high 14 points. His six goals placed him tied for fifth-best on the team, while also tallying eight assists. Vachon had a pair of two-point performances, helping the Raiders to wins over Vermont and Union. Defensively, Vachon finished tied for third on the team in blocked shots with 36.
 
The Ajax, Ontario native has logged 15 goals and 16 assists in 98 career games. Vachon, an Environmental Studies major, is a two-time ECAC All-Academic Team selection and also earned a spot on the Raider Academic Honor Roll last year.
 
Brandon recorded 15 points during his sophomore campaign, notching six goals and nine assists. His goal total ranked fifth-best among defensemen in ECAC Hockey. He racked up four points with a two-goal, two-assist performance in Colgate's 8-3 win over Arizona State. A key piece to the Raiders' backline, Brandon blocked a team-high 78 shots in his 37 games this past season.
 
Hailing from Irvington, N.Y., Brandon was named ECAC Hockey's Best Defensive Defenseman as a freshman and earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team after tallying 10 assists. He also garnered ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team and Raider Academic Honor Roll accolades for the 2020-21 season. 
 
Young, a junior forward, led the Raiders in scoring this season and also finished as one of the top offensive players in ECAC Hockey. He tallied a team-leading 32 points with 17 goals and 15 assists. Young finished tied for fourth in the conference in goals and tied for fifth in points. He also brought a clutch factor to the team, netting four game-winning goals.
 
The Calgary, Alberta native has notched 54 points (23 goals, 31 assists) in 94 career games. Off the ice, the Economics major earned ECAC All-Academic Team honors as a freshman in 2019-20.
 
Colgate's three captains have a combined 44 goals, 66 assists, and 110 points throughout their careers. They helped the Raiders finish 18-18-4 this season, including a 9-9-4 conference mark. Colgate advanced to the ECAC Hockey semifinals for the first time since 2015.
