HAMILTON — The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the signing of forward Bobby McMann '20 to a two-year, two-way future contract on April 29.
In his second season with the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies, McMann has tallied 35 points (24 goals, 11 assists) in 61 games. He is currently second on the team and fourth among AHL rookies in goals.
"Honestly, I am not at all surprised by the success Bobby has had this year. He is one of the most committed players I have ever coached. He does things the right way and has always been a late bloomer," said Raiders' head coach
Don Vaughan.
"As a coach, I want Bobby McMann on my team. He will make others better simply by how hard he works. He is so approachable and wants to learn. I want more players like Bobby McMann in my program."
McMann signed with the Marlies as a free agent in April 2020. During his first season, he split time between the Marlies and the Wichita Thunder (ECHL). He tallied six goals and 11 assists in 18 games with the Thunder and had two goals and two assists in 21 appearances with Toronto.
On April 28, McMann netted his 24th goal, which broke the Marlies' franchise record for most in a season by a rookie.
The Wainwright, Alberta native had a stellar four-year career with Colgate, recording 92 points by 37 goals and 55 assists in 145 games. Notching 12 power play goals and seven game-winning goals, he led the Raiders in scoring for three-straight seasons from 2017-20.
During his senior season in 2019-20, McMann was named Colgate's captain. The honor came after a strong junior campaign during which he served as an assistant captain. McMann earned ECAC Hockey Third Team All-League after posting 23 points with eight goals and 15 assists. He was also named the team's Best Offensive Player.
Prior to McMann, the last Colgate player to sign an entry-level NHL contract was Ryan Johnston who did so with the Montreal Canadians in 2015.
McMann graduated from Colgate with a bachelor's degree in Economics in 2020. He was a four-time ECACH All-Academic Team selection.
